Our SPF50: Free from
Aethic SPF50 is Free from Octinoxate and Avobenzone, and free from Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide, which are commonly found in mainstream chemical sunscreens. It contains only food-grade preservatives and is also free from Parabens, Petroleum Derivatives and Lanolin.
Each ingredient undergoes rigorous individual testing to ensure its compatibility with coral and marine life, while being gentle on your skin. The entire product is then subjected to extensive testing and retesting, affirming its eco-compatible credentials

Application
Evenly apply a generous amount of Aethic SPF50 fragrance-free sunscreen to the face and body before sun exposure. Re-apply every 2-3 hours, or after swimming, towel drying, perspiring heavily, or washing.
We recommend the use of Aethic’s SPF50 for children 2 years and over. Babies should be always kept in the shade. Our sunscreen is suitable for all skin types.

Is the packing plastic?
Plastic is a tricky business! At Aethic, we want to be consistent and use the most appropriate and ecological packaging with our proven and patented reef safe formula – the only one in the world! The challenge was the following : All sunscreens are emulsions, meaning they are a mixture between oily substances and watery ones. As such the receptacle ( bottle, tube, stick …) must be impervious – watertight, or the product will dry out!!!
After extensive research and testing and retesting, we found a material called Green PE which is made from sustainable sugar cane, it has a lower carbon footprint than traditional petroleum-based plastic yet works very well. Green PE can be recycled with other plastics.
All other “eco plastic” for example seen in promotional videos, dissolve in water. These can’t work for us… and just think for a minute about just how compatible the dissolved material is with marine life !
The paper wrapper is made from sustainable paper mills and forests. The printing inks are water soluble. The “cellophane” (have to be careful since that is a trademark) is in fact sustainable and compostable and they were the ones to initiate it.

I have used this cruelty-free sunscreen ever since it came out. I was keen to avoid anything containing damaging minerals which are not reef-safe at all, despite the claims of some companies. I used the factor 40 originally, which was wonderful, but the factor 50 is even better for my very pale, freckled skin, so I was delighted when it came out a little while later.
Apart from the obvious excellent environmental credentials of this sunscreen, it is also wonderful under face make-up and can be used all around the eyes with no irritation at all. I wear a lot of eye make-up and foundation and this sunscreen sits beautifully underneath it all, never making my eyes water, or my make-up move about. It is well worth investing time to see which face creams/primers/foundations work with it. I got lucky first time and it works in tandem with my usual routine of other products.
It protects my whole face and neck. It is superb for sensitive skin. I sometimes use it for body too, so it is a fabulous all-rounder.
I would hate it if this product stopped being made!

I have been recently introduced to Sovee and for the last 2 months have put it through its paces – mainly in the garden (including beer gardens). My skin type is completely unforgiving but as an ocean enthusiast, I had to find an alternative to what I was using.
I have not burnt once since using Sovee even after many hours in direct and strong sunlight. Although ‘thicker’ than what I was using, it applies easily and absorbs quickly. It has a subtle scent and I have been applying just once a day. I also bought my daughter factor 25 before going on holiday with friends and her feedback has also been really positive.
